United Kingdom 2009 Range Rover Vogue TDV8 Nara Bronze
Off road height

Lowered car to acess height then raised it again but I must have switched it twice as its now on off road height.

None of the orange lights are showing on the turn switch just the red light next to the off road icon.

Does anyone know why there are no orange lights and the switch is inoperative?

the light should be on next to off road as that's what the car is in. You need to check that all doors and boot are closed properly or the car will not drop and the rotary switch will not do anything (although I think it should at least flash??) Ash

I just took the car out and went over 30 and it righted itself...

Suspension message and engine light are back again

Just drove the car 200 miles and lowered the car to access height and the old problem has arisen again.

"Air suspension inactive" and a couple of hours later the amber engine light came up. The suspension controls won't work and the car is set at normal road height.

Really annoyed as I did think that the suspension problem could occur again as the compressor is probably on its way out, however, with the engine warning light when it went into the dealer they said it was a faulty oxygen sensor and replaced it.

I'm now wondering whether the car is running rich and needs to be remapped and the old oxygen sensor was fine or whether the suspension message and engine light are linked.

The dealer diagnosed the susepsnion problem as needing a new compressor but when they set it again the message disappeared and it worked again - albeit for a couple of weeks.

Does anyone have any thoughts as to whether the light and the warning message could be linked or whether this might be coincidence?

O2 sensor and suspension completely separate, no way connected.

Suspension could be a number of issues, codes need to be read and further diagnostics done. Dealer will most likely change the compressor as first port of call on over temperature or taking too long to fill faults when in fact could be another cause (as RS2000custom says). I'm afraid most dealer 'technicians' are just part swappers until the fault is fixed rather than using brain power and checking stuff first.

I agree about dealers being part swappers.

They said the engine light was oxygen sensor and the suspension fault was compressor. Now the light and air inactive message are back although they appeared within a couple of hours of one another which is why I thought the light and message could be linked but relating to a fault on the suspension.

Will read the other link though what I will say is the suspension when it was working was slow to rise.

Also yesterday when I went to lower it for access I think I could hear a clonk towards the back of the car. Does that ring any bells? This would seem to be the compressor making a noise surely? 2009 Vogue TDV8 Nara Bronze

When the air pump overheats that throws up the error message that you are getting and no lights on.
Possibly when you double hit the switch it proved too muchy for the pump and shut doon.
Then when cool it was ok.

Get yer pump ventilated asap and hope it extends the life.
If not, £300'sh so worth a few quid to vent

Soz for delay, work got in the way.

Into the boot
I think its 4 bolts that hold the shell of the pump doon.
Loosen said bolts and insert some form of spacer so that ther is a gap for fresh air to circulate within the void of the shell.
I used some 15mm copper pipe as I had some lying about.

Worth a try as it prob costs nothing to do.

Bill thanks. I wonder whether it overheated due to the car being loaded up.

The boot was completely full of luggage and it was a warm day and long drive on Saturday.

Just a thought, but I will do as you said and raise it slightly.

It's sometimes an indication of a pinhole in the airbag causing it to leak very slowly, but enough for the compressor to run overtime?

Ditto Allseeingpie.Had similar problem myself.You need to check air-struts for leaks.Have you had any sagging on any 4 corners? If there`s a leak on any of them it will overwork the compressor, which then shuts down.Had mine done at an Indie and I think they sprayed water on all 4 -just like checking for a puncture.End result was new compressor (because I left it too long to diagnose problem,therefore knackering the compressor) and 2 x new front bags (gutted) total cost fitted £1000+.EAS problems seem fairly common with the FFRR and IMHO the less you play around with it the better. 05`V8 AUTOBIOGRAPHY
