When do I change what?!??....

My 08 FF V8 has done about 62k and had regular services.

I bought it 6 months ago and am taking it for an oil change soon (rightly or wrongly i just like the idea of changing it every 6 months / c.6000 miles).

My question is though, what else around this age and mileage should I be considering changing if anything? Ie diff oil, gearbox oil, cambelt etc.

Done get me wrong, I don't want to make a big bill for myself, but do want to take food care of her!

Any suggestion very welcome. RR Vogue TDV8 08

Do an all fluids out service. It may have service history but this doesn't mean too much, depends on the technician performing the work, and how close he may have been to obtaining his/her efficiency bonus that week.

Also, it gives you feedback. If you have a very dirty transfer box oil, then you know to look out for any issues in this area. The ZF transmission is really worth doing at around this mileage, as it tends to add service life to it.

Engine oil changes are a good idea at intermediate service periods, but this tends to be debatable given the excellent engine oils recommended by JLR for their later powertrain units. Personally, I'd do it but more because I don't trust the paper filter elements used in them. Rolling Eyes

If you need a list of the JLR suggested fluids, then get a one hour subscription to TOPIx and look at the spec sheets for the vehicle.

Once you've do it you'll need a service reset done on the instrument pack and if you've got someone with a good diagnostic system, then they may as well put the latest software on the vehicle and reset the powertrain and transmission adaptions for you.

I agree. I have just changed all my oils at 150k and they were in a terrible state. It is well worth changing more often than prescribed. I wish I had done mine at 60-70k.

My transmission fluid was changed at 100k and there was a notable change.

Apart from the transmission change which cost a fortune, the other oils are relatively cheap and easy to change.

Gearbox and its filter, Diff's, Transfer Box, Coolant and stick to your 6k oil service.

I use some 5w40 off eBay which is just under £50 for 10litres and is the stuff used by VAG and upto spec but stick to the 6-8k services like you as its so much better in the long run on a diesel to have fresher oil despite how quickly it soots up Sad

Also think about getting an aircon drain and refill, it will at least freshen the oil in that part of the system up.

Also if you haven't already think of getting the leather really well cleaned up Smile

Rear arches as well, if they haven't started to bubble yet get the Range Rover sport arch covers and trim them to fit as it will protect them Smile

Strip the back box down and then repaint it as it will no doubt be less than proper black by now Smile

And just keep her cleaned and well polished/waxed and she should server you well.

Another thing i just thought of was the EGR valves. Maybe look at getting them blanked off as it will reduce the sludge that builds up in the inlet manifold and let the engine breath more easily Smile FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

Thanks to all the above!

I had maybe a couple of those ideas on my list, so whilst they are all a bit of an eye opener, I really appreciate the advice!

I tend to use a well known indie in my area so hopefully they will sort her out a treat when I turn up with my check list! Very Happy RR Vogue TDV8 08
