>2010MY Facelifts -why?

I've seen many posts on the forum about facelifted cars. They look quite nice, but so do the older ones. Opinions please...

Do the new lights (+ etc) give any improvements? Does everyone think the later cars look better? Or is it just a case of wanting to appear to have the newest looking car? Question (I think all of those could be valid reasons. One has every right to personalize one's car (although the 'coin car' linked to in another post is certainly a taste I have not acquired!).

If I were to update, first on my wish list would be to 5.0 L V8 and the fancy dashboard speedo.

Thanks in advance, folks. Very Happy

I think each facelift improved the looks. The main thing for me was the newer lights with LED's - I really liked those, but wasn't prepared to pay the cost of a brand new car to get them, so I went for a facelift.

I could have tried modifying the lights, but IMHO any home made mods using non-genuine parts look wrong.

It is all a matter of taste. I have the original version (2004) but really like the more modern and more up to date look of the 2009 onwards. Land Rover felt the same hence why they constantly updated the car with facelifts and modifications over its life from 2002 to 2012.

Some on here think it is shallow to want to update the look of your car, others think it is a vast improvement. Each to their own. Tom

Looks superb in blue with the contrasting door handles. Where did you get your lights updated?

That's fighting talk on here - you'll find that, remarkably, everyone who has done it just prefers the looks of the 2010 facelift ...

I can very much understand why people wanted to face lift from 02 to 06. I think the original l322 looks a little dated now, but i do not like the 09> face lift at all. I just hate how squinty the headlights are and dont like the grill.

But each to there own, Whistle Thumbs Up

The door Handles are now black gloss/piano style to match the grille surround and it looks even better!

I like:

1. The 2012 look (By CAM TECH CRAIG)
2. The fact it looks a newer car.
3. The fact its an individual project (I like tinkering)
4. The fact its easier to sell when and if.

PS: The wife think the wheels should be black to complete the Blue/Black effect Shocked

Gary Thumbs Up

Well you'd hardly do it if you thought it looked worse......

I'm quite prepared to admit that I wasn't going to pay for a newer car, but I'm open with people that it's facelifted and don't try to pass it off as new.

I think people are pretty impressed when they see a brand new looking Range Rover and I say it cost me less than a used Mondeo.....

We always put private plates on them though so there must be some snobbery there. I'm certainly a snob and haven't ever seen a facelift model with the original year date plate Laughing
