Hi, has any one changed the BCM on a pre touch screen with a second hand one, ie straight swap or does it need to be coded before it is used. V8 facelift Range Rover Autobiography 22" wheels.

Daveo,

I did the swap in my 2003 Vogue. Simple job - unhook the battery, locate BCM under passenger seat ( I found it easier taking the seat out - four bolts only) and swap over, put battery back on. Job done.

It took around 20mins.

Forgot to mention there is something about the mileage - it's in Rave I think. Something about putting in a BCM from a higher mileage car and then it registering this mileage on the dash and then it sticks. But it doesn't work the other way.

the reason is as in my other post about my rain sensor not working, its all there sensor but not sure if it was added after and the bcm does not support the rain sensor option. V8 facelift Range Rover Autobiography 22" wheels.

hi dave, not sure why you are having problems with the rain sensor but all range rovers expect HSE or SE i think had the rain sensor fitted as standard so your original BCM unit would have had it activated from the factory. Its an option that you can turn on and off using a fault mate etc..
