Does anyone know whether the black privacy glass fitted to my 2002 l322 is standard? If it is does this mean it is solid black and not a coating like aftermarket films? If it is an aftermarket film then I'm assuming it can be removed without damage to reveal the green tint below?

Easiest way to tell - can you clearly see the rear screen heater elements from the outside of the car ? If clearly can be seen then this is likely yo be film and can be removed with a hair dryer. Assuming you want to remove film if fitted, drag a sharp nail across the inside surface of a side window. Tinted film will mark, glass won't.

Factory privacy was an option from 2002.

It's factory glass so not much can be done abut it.

If it can be broken with a hammer...

park it in a dodgy area next to a pile of bricks....... Wish mine was factory, looks ok just one of those things which bugs me.

I'm in two minds. Sometimes I prefer the look of the green tinted all round...

I have come to the conclusion that when the first ball joint or bush wears out, its best policy to replace the lot on that axle. The chances are that the rest are not far behind and the effect if one bush or joint malfunctioning hastens the demise of the rest. May as well have one miserable makor expense, rather than the a catalogue of failures thAt feel like dripping tap torture. Do it all once and there is only one set up and finish cost.
