Drivers door key

Just tried to get into my car, and for once thought I'd try the manual key instead of remote open/close on the fob. Wish I hadn't now as now I know it doesn't work Censored

Is this common?

I'm not too bothered by it, other than reading about all the battery faults with the vehicle, that could potentially leave me stuck outside of it. Big Cry Bushy

The key not un-locking is only common if there is a fault. Laughing
Time to get the door card off and have a look.
Probably a link problem.
You really do not want the door to be un-lockable by the key.
Do you have tow bar electrics just in case the inevitable happens?

If the battery goes flat and it won't open the central locking you can plug another battery/car into the rear socket and to give enough power for the central locking to work. Wink

@ niceday

Can see I can buy a trailer socket plug, wiring indicates a "ground" (earth?) but all the other connectors only seem to be for lighting circuits. How to wire up for a battery / charger ?

for example:

No need to take the door card off, just remove the outer handle and lock and reset the cam to the central position

I think it's the second socket for trailers that's the one which can be powered.
This has two pins for battery charging or power and an earth.

@Joe90

It's the supplementary plug you need. The white one.
+12V to pin 4, earth to pin 3.
If you have a Cteck charger much easier to buy the adaptor from the site shop. Thumbs Up

No you don't, open the door and look at the back, there is a grommet, remove this and it gives access to a torx bolt, remove that and the handle comes off. The lock assembly then lifts out and you have to realign the part that's left inside the door. Just use a screwdriver to do this and reassemble.
