Hi,

My wife pointed out the driver's door hinge creaks on the RR.. Had a look today to put some lubricant on it but it seems the reason it creaks is because the nut/ bolt that holds it onto car bodywork/doorway has worked it's way loose a little. It is secure on by a star shaped nut/bolt.. Does this need a specialist tool as it looks like a 39 second job to tighten up otherwise?

If you mean the door stay (half way between the hinges) then it's the female version of a Torx 50 bit.
The sockets come in E** so I'm not sure which one it is but they're available from the likes of Halfords. 

you could use a screwdriver with a blade big enough to 'wedge' into the star hole.. ... - .- -.

I've got one of them , my back doors were needing tightened, pop in for a brew tonight if you want.....

Pity you didn't post this at the weekend, was in Bo'ness on Sunday!

An ordinary 12-point socket may go onto it - worth a try if you have a set!

Aye... Have 2 socket sets... will dig them out and see if anything doing, otherwise will pay some retailer a visit..

TBH, I would nip into a local garage, 2 second job really Or maybe a friendly local forum member near by in englandshire ??
