I really like the look of both the Alpine and the Pure Highway, my only concern would be how the internal DAB antenna performs. Looks like the Alpine is better if you cannot alter the display colour as the green will match the interior lighting much better.

I would want to get it professionally installed and use the AUX connection option rather than FM. Anyone have any ideas about how much it would cost to install?
Does the supplied antenna work well that is supplied with the Alpine unit? Having looked at the Halfords option the Pure Highway comes with an external aerial I believe which I would prefer to avoid if possible.

I do have a brand new, boxed, one of these in my garage plus the External DAB antenna if anybody wants to make me a realistic offer.

Embarassed

Bought it while my car was in for some work which involved removing the dashboard and it was quite easy to pop in the LR one at the time. 2011 Stornaway Grey 5.0SC Autobiography

Finally!

Hope everyone is having a nice Christmas Smile

Some nice man calling himself S Claus delivered one of these to me this week.

@alanm_3

Which brodit bracket did you use?

Also I see that a standard ISO cable loom is included. As I will be using the FM transmitter function as I don't have the AUX input on my car, am I correct in saying I just need to connect the permanent 12V and ignition controlled 12v simply by cutting the supplied loom? Its the only way I can see of getting power to it.

Also for those that have fitted these whats the best location? Ideally I would like it in the boot behind one of the side panels but the controller cable doesn't seem long enough to allow that.

I started off with this as a base -http://www.brodit.com/product.html?id=854085&pn=prod&brand=Land Rover&model=Range Rover&year=2007. This will fit on either side of the nav screen.

Then I screwed the display to the base plate, which ended up looking like this - http://www.fullfatrr.com/gallery/displayim...amp;pos=37

I'm sure I thought about locating the control box in the boot, but from memory I don't think the (proprietary) cable that goes between that and the display was going to be long enough, as it takes a very circuitous route to get to where I mounted it, so I ended up putting the box behind the passenger side centre console panel. This also makes it easier to use the piggy back fuse holders to connect to the front fuse panel, which sits behind the lower glove box.

Mine didn't come with an ISO connector, so I only used the 2 x 12V and the earth wires. Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue

Thanks for your prompt reply!

I shall probably follow the same route as the cable wont reach the boot. You are either at Le Mans or waiting for Le Mans

Just be careful where you mount the DAB antenna. I fitted mine on the top left corner of the windscreen and all was well, but I've recently added a Blackvue camera, which all be kills the DAB signal, so I'm probably going to have to move it. Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue

That's interesting. I have a camera mounted by the rear view mirror also. I didn't think a camera would stop DAb from working correcty! You are either at Le Mans or waiting for Le Mans

If its a Blackvue, then It almost certainly will. Do a Google search and you'll see it's a well documented problem.

I was amazed that a modern piece of technology could emit so much s Censored t that it could kill a close by receiver, but it surely does! Big Cry Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue

hi, interested, but a question, if you have this via a line in, does the satnav voice still override? I have a 2002 with vogue radio, it has a Bluetooth 9200i parrot, it works excellent, but when I have my ipod on Bluetooth, the voice is lost, it doesn't mute. which I don't actually mind, as I can listen to something interesting on radio 4 podcast, and not get told to turn left. -I do still get the display arrow etc and info, to read...
any thoughts?

Because I use mine via the AUX input on the RSE panel, the Sat Nav voice does indeed override whatever is playing through it and I guess if the FM option was used that would also work. Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue

I installed mine yesterday and put the aerial at the top left of the windscreen. So far I can say that the camera I have makes no difference to the DAB signal.

I have one of these with GPS
