my new 4.4 question

Hi all, I've just left a deposit on a 2004 FFRR 4.4 vogue. My first FF actually my first Land Rover. Very Happy
It drove lovely and changed gear with no issues. however the sat nav didn't work and will be replaced by the dealer, the indicator lights on the dash did not show nor did the light or fog lights symbol, although all these lights work. I've been assured all these issues will be fixed, however I have a concern over a small pile of grease that was on the heat shield next to the front prop and diff.
Should I be concerned?

Its due a service, which I've been assured will also be done.
This is a none franchised dealer.

Thanks for all your time.
Steve

I'd run, and fast! Shocked

The dash should light up like a Xmas tree when the car is switched on. That shows you all the bulbs are working. There are symbols for both front and rear fog lights. If these are missing, what other warning lights are also being hidden?

The sat-nav. Many people replace them with later model BMW gear as they are showing their age. What's the dealer's plan? After market sat-navs will have limited functionality - loss of mpg and consumption reset and maybe other features.

You didn't mention service history. You want to know this.

If your still interested, definitely take it to a mechanic you trust that specializes in RRs and can interrogate the onboard computers. You don't want surprises. They are fantastic cars but are not known to be cheap and easy to fix.

Thanks, Steve

This was exactly the same as mine when I got it. They need to pull fuse 47 I think it is and leave it out for about 5 mins. It makes the nav ecu stuff do a proper reset. Once back in everything worked as it should. Think it was due to a low battery. [img]http://www.fuelly.com/driver/rob2529/range-rover[img/]

I had problems with the dash indicator lights (although indicators worked outside), screen and stereo not working on my 02 range rover.
I traced it to a faulty light control module in the drivers footwell. Thumbs Up

Bloody brilliant, rob2529, 47p2 and Steptoe thank you all very much. Bow down
I'm supposed to be picking it up next week and was getting well concerned with all the horror stories about FF, but I also saw all the positive's and enjoyment that you all seem to enjoy.
Can't wait to get mine now. Any more info appreciated.

They're a pain in the arse when they aren't going properly, but great when they are. The secret is to not let it know you are relying/depending on it to get you from A-B Big Cry Laughing Laughing
