2006 Range Rover Vogue Td6 Java Black
ICE Exspert REQ

I have a recently purchased FFRR vogue with Necvox screens in the head rest with DVD and PlayStation fitted, but I don’t have any headphones with the vehicle. Having done a search how would I know if the receiver for the head phones is fitted and which ones I need.

Does anyone know where I could take it to have it looked at on the Fylde Coast or in Manchester as I don’t have a clue, the screens work, you can view the DVD just can’t hear anything, and I can’t work the play station either with the remote. I have fitted new batteries in the two remotes but nothing happens.

Thanks

Are there transmitters in the screens? If you have IR transmitters in the screens (usually just underneath the screens - will be a plastic panel through which you can just about see LEDs) then you need some IR headphones. I have some Alpine ones which came with my car. They are only single channel but could suit your purpose? I have dual channel RF headphones now so these are surplus to requirements...

Many thanks for your reply, I'm not sure if I have transmitters in the screens or not, and I cant see any LED's in the screen panel. What I have found this morning is what looks like an IR reciever on the passenger pillar between the passenger doors at roof level, about the size of a ten pence piece, Im wondering if thats it ?

The previous owner told me it was all installed and just needs headphones though they never ever used it, If your Alpine headphones would work with the system then I would gladly buy them from you,

Thanks

Hi BossHog

Send me a PM and you can come and try the headphones first. See if they work and solve the issue for you

Necvox screens were commonly fitted on earlier cars by aftermarket installers so what year is your car??
Defiantly no infra red audio built in, most early cars the headphones were RF type and usually Phillips the transmitters were usually mounted or pushed into spaces around the rear storage areas, they are quite flat with a small up facing point at 1 end also some had a compartment to charge a battery
Regards

broncoupe many thanks for your offer of assistance, I toke the RR to a specialist Friday (yesterday) and it would appear I have no IR but do have an RF system, they had a little trouble finding the wave band but they found it in the end. So they have ordered me a pair of dual channel RF head phones, next problem is the PS2 is password protected and I don't have the password!
