I've searched as many posts as I can on this, but I can't seem to find the answer.

I'm looking to buy the Intravee/Alpine 420i kit to enable Ipod connection in my 2004 Vogue and am happy to do away with my CD changer, but can someone tell me where the two replacement units go? Will they fit in the space left by removing the CD changer? Or are they too big to fit in there? Do they fit behind the footwell?

I recently had the whole glovebox and CD changer out (what a friggin' nightmare that was!!) as a CD had got stuck and I managed to fix it, but I did take the step of NOT fitting all the screws back into the CD housing, so it now slides forward without me having to dis-assemble the glovebox again I know I have the 3 and 6 pin connections on the CD changer, not the 10 pin, so I believe this will make installation of the Intravee a lot easier.

However, I still have a feeling someone is going to tell me either the Intravee or the Alpine (or both for that matter!) will have to sit behind one of the dashboard/footwell panels, or even worse, in the boot  Cheers

Good news Greg... They fit along side the changer, or in place of the changer as there is plenty of room

If you need an Intravee and the 420i, I have a very lightly used set available if you're interested that was only in my FF for around 8 months. Si. <This is my name.

They are actually small enough and have enough cable you do not need to fit in the glovebox at all, you could put them in the centre or behind the side pods and run the lead for Ipod to the top armrest cubby, if you do this you more than double the size of the glovebox but dont forget to run a lead from the serial port to where you can reach it easily for firmware updates, then have fun setting the mirror folding, auto lock and PDC distance readout, its worth it for those alone IMO.
The intravee itself is the size of a pack of cigs !!! One day your life will flash before your eyes......................................make sure yours is worth watching!

Thanks for that info. It would be useful to free up the space where the CD changer is, and fitting them behind the side pods is so much easier than faffing around with the glovebox!  Cheers

Also as Johnny knows u need the latest firmware to get the extras on the intravee

I have mine mounted in the side panel section of the dash so its easy to get to, i also have the ALpine 6 disc mp3 changer in my set up

Is it just a case of connecting the unit to a pc and downloading the latest version? Or not as simple as that?! Cheers

Do not use it unless the firmware is updated ehhh Cliffy, when its all updated and working you will be amazed at what it can do, one little tip, you have to go in the memory and set it up for which vehicle its in, I ended up telling it thats its in a BMW X5 and all is now good, there is full support on the BM forum, i have the addy if you get stuck. One day your life will flash before your eyes......................................make sure yours is worth watching!

Yes if your pc literate, im not !!!!!! Cliffy did mine. One day your life will flash before your eyes......................................make sure yours is worth watching!

And to get the extra menu in it u have to agree to the t&c's of the software whilst connected to ur car

ive got the latest firnware and pdfs for install if u need them, u will also need a COM port connection, if not ur need a usb to com connector
