Radio not working!

Since I recharged and refitted the battery to my 2002 3.0 diesel the radio has stopped working. Then car is starting fine now and the unit is the standard single CD/radio unit (no satnav). The display for the radio does not come on. When I attempt to switch it on it just says PHONE on the display. There is no volume but the computer functions such as mpg work as normal. I have tried removing and refitting fuses 8 & 49 but no luck. Crying or Very sad
Any ideas guys?
Thanks again!

The display is actually a multi-information-display (MID) and not an integral part of the radio - it just displays the radio info as well as the other vehicle info. The radio/cd player are one unit.

I'd have to check wiring to see exactly which fuses are relevant, but if all else fails...

In mine, RR TD6 2004 vogue, the radio module in the back has its own 10 amp fuse.
Further more it has a AMP located next to the radio module and I had a problem once with water-humidity on the sockets which caused failure of the audit system: no volume.
