It's only the speaker wires done that way, I was under the impression very little power travelled through them?

The quality of the twisting is such that it's just as strong as a solder, I'll be getting some multi-pin plug and sockets soon to to do a proper job anyway Thumbs Up

The system uses up to 5v dc for the speaker connections, maybe more for the sub outputs.

5v shorted is enough to start an electrical fire.

I've been an electronics engineer by profession (25 years) and I have made hundreds of looms for cars I can tell you that twist and tape is absolutely no good at all, less than a pound of pressure will rip the connection apart, and since all the wires have been joined at the same length (not staggered) then they will all short out together.

Solder and heat shrink is the best method for this type of repair (which I have also done on this very plug).

Ok, thats perfect as long as the pins to the plugs are either crimps (yuck) or soldered.

I know I'm a new and low poster and dont want to cause any offence but I'd fix that as soon as possible mate.
