I'm hoping someone can advise me on the following issue i have with my TDV8.

I keep getting the dreaded warning chimes and failure messages for HDC, auto transmission, suspension etc.... The fault seems to occur only within the first few miles of any journey. I simply pull over, switch off and then restart the car and all the warnings have cleared. Sometimes it re-occurs within the next few miles. The alternator and Battery were changed two months ago so I don't believe that to be the issue. The problem has never occurred after I've travelled more than 10 miles in any journey as far as I can remember.

The car is currently with Independent Land Rovers of Preston to try and find the issue. They've checked all the obvious wiring/connections and found no fault and are now having the high pressure fuel pump tested to see if that's faulty as one of the error codes logged appeared to indicate some issue with the fuelling.

I'm happy for the team in Preston to keep looking but just wondered if anyone else had a similar case and if so what they did to resolve it.

You pre-empted my initial reaction, that the battery would be goosed, or the alternator is messing with the charge levels and spiking the sensors and making them trip.

If you know this isn't the case it sounds like you have some further fault diagnosis to do.  Discovery 4 HSE

Follow the chain:

Check all the ECU connections - ABS etc, start with the big black box in the engine bay  .

This sounds very similar to the problem that I've very recently had with my early TDV8, the clue could be with the mention of a fault code relating to fuel pressure. There is a Landrover fix SSM44729 which relates to the connection on the fuel pressure sensor, this may be relevant to you. I'll send you this document if you think it might help you.
I would suggest caution before replacing lots of mechanical bits - I've just spent a shedload of ££'s trying to fix a problem that sounds very similar and ended up being wiring related.
I can give you all of the details of the problem and repair of mine if you want it but it has been a real horror story so you might not want to read it until you've checked it's not something quite simple on yours.

Sounds like a sensor fault if its clearing on restart. If there was a major mechanical failure, it simply wouldnt fix itself by turning a key on off, you'll most likely find a micro circuit is broken and the change in temperature on start up is causing the issue, the metal will be contracted when cold and as the car warms up, everything expands breaking the circuit temporarily this is why its happening in the firsg 10 minutes as your car comes up to temperature, where the fault is, is anyones guess, Id start at the in engine bay due to the multitude of systems affected '55 Java Black Vogue

If you know what fault codes are showing and they are similar to
PCM P0193, P2290, P117D, U2023, U0155,
PBM U0401
ATCM U0401, U0402, U0416, U0403, U0421,
Then I'll happily pass on what I've learnt - if you haven't already got one you might consider the IID tool from GAP as I found that the support from Patrick was always faster and usually more accurate than the specialist that was working on my car was getting from LR Technical.

Just a quick update:

The garage have had my high pressure fuel pump tested at a specialist and they've found a fault with the pump regulator. The regulator has been replaced and the pump is due to be refitted to my car tomorrow. Hopefully this will resolve my issues.

Watch this space

Picked up my car yesterday from Independent Land Rover Preston and so far so good. Repaired fuel pump installed and no warning messages after three trips made so far.
