Are you certain that a FFRR has the same alternator as a D3. I'm not, but I stand to be corrected.

Being for a TD6 or the older BMW v8 i doubt they are but if the mountings and connections are the same they could be swapped as a whole Smile

With the TDV8, AJV8 and SCV8 i'd put money on them being shared to help reduce costs Smile FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

TD6 alternator part number YLE500150G
Disco 3 alternator part number YLE500400.
No idea whether they are inter-changeable or not.

Why does it need to be watercooled at all?!? surely the V8 doesnt draw that much power when running?! FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

Pretty sure these problems are down to alternator now, when I got to work after 35 mile drive on dual and motorway I let the car shut down and measured the V of my new BoschS5 110AH bat and it was 12.5v, started car and let it idle 13.5-13-9, switched lights on and it dipped to 12.6 and rose slowly to 13.9 but fluctuating to 13.4 (this is at idle though) switch everything on and it reads 11.9 thats seats, HFW,HRW,lights, blower and radio. Paul who I work with reckons not worth getting a reg and diodes(prob nothing wrong with diodes as light goes out) as the bearings and armature and windings have all prob done 140,000 miles if its the original alternator, so he said order the ECP one !!!! Way Hay works paying for it. One day your life will flash before your eyes......................................make sure yours is worth watching!

The water probably heats up the alt on a V8. Lol. £500 new from a dealer is very good. I got quoted £1000 exchange or £1200 supply only! [img]http://www.fuelly.com/driver/rob2529/range-rover[img/]

Still cant see how it would need water cooling compared to the TD6 and other petrol variants... FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's
