06 facelift headlight washers

When i bought my 04 ff it had been facelifted to 06-09 however the headlight washers hadn't been done. now that the mot is getting close i thought i better get it done so got the facelift washer bottle and pumps. wired it up an nothing Confused found out about the two wires to join on the old headlamp wiper connection so done that. still nothing Confused Confused was just wondering if maybe the headlight washers need activated in the body control module for them to work? it did not have the headlight wipers fitted pre facelift if that makes any difference. any help much appreciated. thanks

Do you really need them for the mot? They were not standard on your model year. Previously..

Just looked in the MOT instruction manual, it not clear on this point, its along the lines of,

Vehicles equipped with High Intensity Discharge 3. (HID) or LED dipped beam headlamps may be fitted with headlamp washers and a suspension or headlamp self levelling system.

Where such systems are fitted, they must work; however, it is accepted that it may not be possible to readily determine the functioning of self levelling systems. In such cases, the benefit of the doubt must be given.

Headlamp washers may work in conjunction with the windscreen washers (when the dipped beam headlamps are switched on) or by a separate switch.

Where HID or LED dipped beam headlamps are fitted, switch on the headlamps and check the operation of any headlamp levelling and cleaning devices fitted.

reason for failure:

A headlamp levelling or cleaning device inoperative or otherwise obviously defective.

So I think if you have HID fitted, then you should have the washers working, you might get away with it though as they wash intermittently.

The washers on my 2008 only operate occasionally:

If the headlamps are on the washers will only operate on every fifth activation of the screen washers, and providing 10 mins have elapsed since they were last operated. I would assume that the wipers would have worked in a similar manner.

Are you getting a signal at the old wiper wires on a voltmeter? There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

As far as i know. i think if they are HID or xenon lights they must have a washer fitted. mine were originally halogen headlights so wouldnt have needed them.

what wires did you join..and what head light was they behind..for starters the lights have to be on and then it will wash on the 6th pull of the windscreen washer.
there is a setting for the headlight washer in the bcm. V8 facelift Range Rover Autobiography 22" wheels.

Hi Daveo, joined the brown/black and the black/yellow together on the passenger side as per a post on here. the headlights were on and the pump works fine as tried the connection for the windscreen pump on it. would the headlight washers not work on the 1st wash then miss a few times? looking at the iid tool specs there is a headlight wash/wipe setting in the body control module so thinking it may be turned off. iid tool is on the to get list but have to sort the pixels on the to do list 1st Laughing maybe just take a feed from the windscreen washer pump to switch a relay for the headlight washers to get through mot until i can fix it properly.

No didnt take the bumper off. the plastic splash guard in the wheelarch is all you need to take off. that is providing the hoses to the headlight washers are on and going to or near the washer bottle already. just two bolts holding the bottle in then and thats it, simple enough.

to get them to work as they normally would you need to find the black with yellow tracer and black with brown tracer on the nearside that hasnt been used after the headlight upgrade (would have been in the original headlight multiplug) , join these two wires together and providing the washers are piped up and the pump is wired they will work how they did before the conversion.

Dont think there were any extra wires at the headlight plug. 2 for each bulb, (a power and an earth) so 8 in total. i did find two wires of the colour you mentioned at the headlight wiper connector though and this is what i joined. u sure its the headlight multiplug and not the headlight 'wiper' multiplug the wires are at?

Thanks for checking that Arron. was beginning to think i had wires missing Big Cry that means it must just need activated in the bcm then. i hope. will update the results when i get it done. '04 td6 se
