My Java Black TD6 paint looks a little faded, she does pick up a lot of crap from the roads round here, and lives in a dusty gravel car park most days so she'll never been concours condition. But, is there anything I can use to bring back the black she once had?

Many moons ago in my youth I'd use T-Cut Colour Fast, but guess that frowned upon these days? Not looking to fully detail her, just bring back a bit of proper colour.

Any suggestions? Will be going over her with a clay bar first, once she's had a proper wash (and not from the local Albanian lads)

I use a clay, then i there are any scratches; farecla g3, then zymol. Comes out shiny... There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

To get the paintwork looking a deep glossy black again properly you need to wash, then clay, then wash again, dry, then polish with a DA (or rotary machine dependant on levels of skill/experience/bravery), buff and finally apply a coat of a good wax...

If you are wanting a slightly (only slightly mind) easier option then cleaning (use something like fairy liquid to strip away all the old residues of wax etc) and claying the car is essential (factor in a good few hours for this as these are very big cars) and then use something like Autoglym Super Resin polish. This contains some fillers and masking agents which will 'fill' the fine scratches which make the paintwork appear dull and could give you an improved result I hear that Poorboys Black hole polish is very good on black cars but I have never used it myself. I found that the Autoglym SRP does a good enough job, but cannot compare to using a DA with the proper pads/compounds.

When I got my car it was covered in 'buffer trails' which after 3 trips to the body shop (at the dealers expense) were not really improved. I bought a 'cheap' Kestrel DA machine with Meguiars pads and compounds and detailed the car myself. Took the best part of 12 hours but the paintwork has no holograms or buffer trails anymore

you could try the new autoglym paint pro system , i have seen it used and the results are amazing , i will be using it on my ff when i get time gonna do my 2010 conversion first

Definitely clay, then perhaps try Prima Amigo glaze.

It's a glaze with a darkening effect which adds some depth to the colour again. It should be topped with a wax/sealant, as it has very few protective properties, but it's a great product. Researching my first Range Rover purchase
