You can replace the current 4300k bulb with a 6000k one without changing the ballast. Be advised that whilst the light looks better from the outside, when your driving, the output does appear whiter, but also slightly dimmer.

I have cheap 6000k bulbs sourced from eBay for about £18 delivered..I have had these for over a year and find the light whighter ans brighter..you must get the bulbs with the little metal tabs at the base of the filament otherwise they will not fit and you will break the black holder thingy like i did....there's a thread on the forum some where.. ... - .- -.

Just to add to the confusion, the "low/dipped beams" ie hid become main beams when main beam is selected, working in conjunction with the "main" beam H7. |

I'd personally advise against anything higher than a 55w system. Reason being that the cars are typically designed for 50/55W halogen bulbs. HID's were initially reduced to 35W systems as they produced so much more light than halogen for a given wattage ( so they draw less power than halogen ) Even going to a 55W HID system will be a big boost over standard HID.

I think the problem is that the main H7 halogens for the main beam fill-in light aren't supplied with fully battery voltage - if you look at them they are quite yellow compared to what they should be - I found a reference somewhere that said they only got about 10 Volts. That would cause the issues with the Xenon replacements failing to stay ignited. |

I expect it could be done - but it would mean using a relay that understands CANBUS - I'd be inclined to use a normal relay and use NavCoder to tell the car not to check the Headlamp main beams. |

on bmw's there is coding to increase the voltage to the angel eyes to make them brighter so with the range rover being 'nearly' the same i'm sure the 10volts main beams could have their power uprated somehow.. ... - .- -.
