No mention of the nurse being struck off or arrested either.

Don't set me off......

Died due to loss of blood. I think he died from having part of his member cut off.

And what does Olive Oil do that I don't know about ?

And what about aneasthetic.........and a sterile enviroment.......

..and not dressing it properly..........

......and leaving a jagged cut (not that I'm an expert).

And going to the actual hospital, which was practically on your doorstep, when it all went wrong ?

And actually.....being in the real world for a minute !!

Years ago we used to set fire to people whilst fastened to a stake, or maybe cut their heads off.

Funnilly enough, we don't do that anymore. 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

That judge in Germany was right IMHO about this and similar forms of abuse. Tradition or no tradition, it is wrong to circumcise, tattoo, scar or in any way mutilate a child. They can do whatever they like once they are adults.

Poor kid, same as the millions of poor kids that are mutilated worldwide with male and female circumcisions.

I understand there could be hygienic benefits to circumcision under very particular conditions but in most countries a bit of soap and water can sort you out quite well. I think research now shows there are no benefits from a medical point of view or they are very questionable. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!

AllSeeingPie -
The news item came about as a result of the ongoing trial of the nurse for manslaughter.
She will have been arrested - pretty sure she won't be struck off until the outcome of the trial is known.

Shocking event . . . . everybody involved, including the parents, should be held to account -

Sad Where do you go after one of these . . . ?

Shocked Horrible stuff. What a waste of a life.

I have never understood circumcision. For medical reasons, absolutely. For religious reasons, I just don't understand it. Whilst not being particularly religious, I thought religous people believed that man was created in the image of god? Ergo god must have a foreskin... So why remove it if you are Christian ?? No doubt someone will be offended. Previously..

That's teh trouble. There are way too many professional "Offendees" in the world nowadays. It seems you can't breathe without offending someone.

What I want to know is, what happens if someone gets offended? Do they wake up with Leprosy the next day or something equally nasty? Or do they just get offended and suffer no other effects?

I can just imagine it in the papers.
"Oh, that bloke said "XXXX" and I was offended."
"Yeah? And then what? Oh I see. absolutely nothing."

In the same way as female circumcision is illegal, so should the male version be up until the age of consent. Prosecute the incompetent wench that botched it, and prosecute the parents for allowing it. Whichever way one looks at it, causing the death of another, even unintentionally, is manslaughter. It should be treated as such.

No matter which way these people try to justify this its no different to cutting someone so they bleed to death, it should be murder not man slaughter.
As some have said for medical reasons yes, these people need educating

There are men's health groups campaigning to get this barbaric practise outlawed, many religions do it and guess who funds the keep it out of the news campaign?

We in Britain are in no place to talk about human rights when this goes on every day on our doorstep.
