Actually, it is not 100% clear but I am 99% sure it is an additional warning that the glow plugs are needed (which they barely are in warmer temps - you can start the M57 almost like a petrol motor). 2 main reasons:
- the message only appears prior to engine start. For the FBH to produce any heat you have to go through the starting sequence which lasts ~1 minute and then it still takes the FBH several additional minutes to produce any real heat. The only way that becomes Pre- (vs. Aux-) Heat is if you have the Park-Heat function activated and allow the FBH to operate for a while before starting the engine.
- the real give-away, tho, is the equivalent German cluster message: Vorglühen. Translated literally this means Pre-Glowing. And if the FBH starts glowing, you have a problem. Laughing

I wonder what they mean by 'deactivating' the function, tho (in your other quoted thread). If they do mean 'just start the piece if you don't want to wait' then deactivate is a strange term to use. I am relatively sure it is not in the CCF. Maybe a poor translation as this probably came from BMW's engineering dept? Too much O-fest beer prior to sitting down at the PC by the owners manual guys?

Just put the timer on for what I think is the heater. The on the screen for heating is set to come on tomorrow see if it works.
Its left an orange light on the screen button so think its on standby to work.
There was two timer settings but just set the No.1 setting.
If this works can I get a hand remote to work it or will I need to check somewhere to see if the receiver is fitted.

If it works there is a good chance a fob would work once paired up.

But to be 100% sure you need to know if you had remote park heating specced when the car was made.

This can be done by locking for the webasto remote unit which I think is in the passenger side rear boot area.
