I take it both have full landrover service histories, done on time. The 70k car must have had a few. How many miles a year do you do? Generally, gut feeling is the thing to go with, as it is you that's buying it! Previously..

I would also go with the 2010 model. It sounds good, is the "newer" version and the mileage isn't that high (while likely to be a lot of motorway = good miles indeed).

Personally if you can get a car with half the miles for the same price thats only a year older id go for that. Will no doubt be in better condition also ie less stone chips to the front, less wear on the suspension components etc. |

Suspension wear depends on the roads and motorways are often in much better condition than normal A and B roads. Lower miles means its likely seen more in and out action so more wear on the drivers seat, possibly a more endeered driver so extra stretch on the leather, and will have gone longer between services as well as having more cold starts which damage an engine more than being run for a long time at a set speed. Sod the stone chips. If they are the same price, both have warranties, FLSH and both are clean and tidy then go for the one with more toys. I went for one with higher mileage over one with lower mileage but dodgy history and got more toys and it's done 10,000 miles in 6/7 months without any major issues (ok I knocked the tracking out, flattened the battery and shredded a tyre all three of which were my fault).

Buy the newer one the mileage will even out over time so in about three years it should be average miles and enjoy the newer features and look over the older look onto no6 Range Rover

thanks all - much appreciated - plan is get a good one and keep it 5-10 years. Did this with my six year old BMW Z4 and it still feels like the day I picked it up (same joy but without the sheer terror when I floored it any time in the first six months!)

In that case the newer one wins hands down as you will end up with average milage in a few years and below average mileage as it gets older FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

found out some more info on the 2010 TDV8 and not sure if I should be worried or not - could be a disaster waiting to happen?

I would be very surprised if that service interval did any damage as there is quite a lot of leeway built in and the oil used is very high quality and last for longer than the service periods stated. Your decision though. |

In a thread about the GAP IIDTool I think there was a mention that service intervals are calculated on a mileage and an amount of fuel used. If the car is doing mega motorway miles then it's likely to have decent MPG so the intervals will be lower. It's also an indication that the person doing the mega miles isn't thrashing it too?
