another sat nav problem

my sat nav seems to be having a few issues, has for a while but have never got round to sorting it. basically only some of the buttons / functions are available to select with others ' greyed out ' so do nothing when pressed, so making selecting a destination impossible. i have another disc that i was going to try but not sure this will help. the actual map works and you can see where you are on the map etc just not some of the other functionality..... any ideas?

best

andy

When you say "stop" you don't mean that it's waiting for a space character before it will accept any more letters or numbers do you ?

well the plot thickens, as Axle suggested i tried the sat nav while stationary and it would seem that most of it worked with the exception of the post code part which still doesnt show the letters just the numbers, however when i started moving various parts greyed out? is this supposed to happen as i am sure it didnt happen before?

'nav on the move' is greyed out on the 2010 disc upgrades...this can be unlocked using the IIDTool if you have the correct firmware.. ... - .- -.

i cant imagine that mine would have it being an 05 car? but i bought it in november 2010 so its possible but something must be wrong as teh letters are always greyed out when input via postcode..... does anyone know what the difference the latest disc might make?

If it's only showing numbers on the post code entry then it sounds likely that the search country is set wrong (probably Belgium if you've updated the disc)

I'd forgotten about that one Martin (happened to me after driving back from Switzerland) - took a bit of head scratching to work out why the post codes were not working UK style!

you guys were right on the money, was programmed to france! so all works now which is great (not that it was ever broken just me being stooopid)

so does anyone know what the new disc would be bring? am guessing just newer maps? is it just a case of changing the disc in the boot?

Yes, new maps. Depending on what year you've got now there may be a slight software update to the nav too, adding/updating some features.
