its only subtle changes to the nav icons etc, nothing dramatic ..i didnt notice much difference when i upgraded mine to the 2011/12 disc [except the maps of course].. ... - .- -.

The software can only be updated via the disks AFAIK, rather than service/diagnostic tools.

As Stan says, the changes really are minor - I only noticed a change of icon and a button for "Cancel Guidance" on the nav menu screen when I updated the D3.
