United States 2006 Range Rover Supercharged 4.2 SC V8 Java Black

I always fill the RR to the max. It works out to be one fill up per week at $100 per trip to the pump. `07 Lotus Exige S - Ardent Red

The reason for reducing the tank won't be strictly for weight it will be for CO2 emissions - what VED group does the TDv6 engine fall into - makes a big difference to company cars.
TDv6 could be going to be the "business-man's" special - there'll be an eD6 version soon too (2WD) I bet, just to get corporate emissions down........... Laughing 2018 Mini Countryman Cooper S E All4 PHEV in Melting Silver - it’s whisper quiet in EV and polluter modes

Don't joke - someone from LR was quoted as saying this was a possibility in Evo magazine.

How to kill a reputation.

The eD4 version of the Evoque is reputed to be selling so well that it was confirmed this week that the TD4 will be discontinued in favour of the eD4 - no more orders are being accepted for TD4's as of this week............ In the UK the TD4 was not available in all models or as an automatic yet on the continent they could have an automatic version and a Dynamic as well 2018 Mini Countryman Cooper S E All4 PHEV in Melting Silver - it’s whisper quiet in EV and polluter modes

Look forward to the first internet pictures of 2WD "Range Rovers" stuck in an inch of snow.

What a joke.

Interesting they are fitting the smaller tank to the 6 cylinder. But I can't see the issue.

With the fuel economy of the TDV6 being around 15% better, having a 19% smaller tank is hardly the end of the world. Real world range will be almost the same.

I always used to fill mine up because I hate stopping all the time for fuel.
Even on the TDV6 you should have a range of over 600 miles with a gallon or two spare.

No doubt this helps to keep the weight down for tax and marketing purposes as kerbweight is much reduced by 420kg, which they keep banging on about.
Add the SDV8 and it's something like 100kg heavier.
20kg of that is the extra fuel. Smile

For me the issue would be that you would expect to go further on a full tank in the SDv6 than in the SDV8. This would'nt be the case with the above percentages as you would travel a shorter distance for the full tank than the sdv8 would do.

Leaving the big tank on the SDV6 would be a good selling point as you could get another 100miles out of the tank if not more without breaking a massive sweat Smile FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

Yes, but it would probably bring the "New Range Rover is 420kg lighter!" headlines down to under 400. Smile

I wonder what percentage of buyers need a range of over 700 miles.

At most it would add 5kg for the tank size increase and any extra gubbins for it.

TBH if it were me i would want as high a range as possible Smile

I've had cars that do 700+ on a 65litre tank(68 squeezed in from bone dry!) and i was pootling about all the time in them as those kinds of car are known to do over 50mpg without a stretch and often 60mpg...

Anyway horses for courses but it would be nice to see it as an option on the SDV6 models at no cost or maybe £1-200. A few less fill ups in a year will also help MPG a bit Smile FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

Plus 20 litres and you are looking at around 25kg (ish) as all facts and figures (including emmissions) are based on kerbweight which includes a full tank of fuel. Smile

As you say, they could have left it as an extra or something.
Like the large washer bottle... ??

Ahh fully fuelled Smile

25kg wouldn't affect emission's that much Smile

I do wonder when the ED6 version comes out if that will be tied into having a separate power source for the NON-engine driven wheels to ensure off road ability and stability remains and to help the ED6 get a good emmisson reduction... Hybrid already exists and it doesn't work like that.

Same here. Can't see the point in half filling, only means you have to go back in half the time, so you actually waste fuel by doing 2 trips to the pump! Discovery 4 HSE

As above cant see the point in 2 fillups.

It may not work like that but it would be the most efficient system. They will just be using the tech already in use by PSA but on a bigger scale. Which is a bit poop tbh. FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's
