Range Rover Vogue ignition problem

hi everyone

I'm writing on behalf of a friend of mine who reported a problem with his RR.

In high temperature outside (about 30C these days) there are problems with ignition. it takes about 5-8 seconds for the engine to start. in lower temperatures it starts normally.

I assume it is NOT normal. do you have any idea what could be the reason for that?

thanks

It certainly isn't 'normal' however at least he is able to start the car. I know a friend who drove his Range Rover onto the continent and his ignition barrel seized up, at the time no one could diagnose the fault and the AA had to trailer it back to the UK, apparently at a cost of about £5,000.

The fix cost £250 when back in the UK, simply a replacement ignition barrel. Discovery 4 HSE

I'd suspect a faulty temperature sensor. However, electrical gremlins can have many causes and so ask your dealer to plug it into their diagnostic machine, that should tell you.
