Don't bother with it for the L322 buyer's guide - it is typically vague for LRO. If you do have, you'll know exactly what I mean in the transmission section - the info is all wrong ie no mention of the GM 'box (!)
There are several other well known problems with the car which are not mentioned in the article Rolling Eyes .

Better off reading on here !

On the flip side, the article on the new car is quite good, and there's a cracking Classic restoration . . . . enjoy !

Thumbs Up Where do you go after one of these . . . ?

Do they still print LR mags? Surely you can only recycle articles and write up poorly attended shows for so long .... Land Rover Addict

DMRR, do not put all the mags in the same bag, some - or at least the aforementioned one - stands out of the crowd for good reasons, offering exclusive features from all avec the place.
Really you cannot say LRO recycles its articles but au contraire, it produce relevant, out of the ordinary, articles and more importantly trips and expeditions articles from today and from back in the days Thumbs Up l=Oo\________/oO=l l:OolΞΞΞΞΞΞΞloO:l

I have always bought LRO on and off for about 20 years now but I have to say that despite liking it, it has become almost totally devoted to Nene Overland.

I bought my Defender from Nene and whilst they specialise in Land Rovers and have great capability I wouldn't say they treated me very well. Instead of encouraging my unending enthusiasm for Land Rovers the sales man was simply "take it or leave it, I couldn't give a toss" type of attitude.

They have an advert in LRO every other page and all the cars they use they borrow from them as the're located nearby. Discovery 4 HSE

^^^That sounds quite restrictive, doesn't it.

This is your point of view, and respect that, however, for example, in the very latest issue I do not see much Nene overland stuff as you said.

Maybe you tend to over focus on them because of a so-so experience with them.

i find these mags to be very generalised and not very specific, like the range rover 'special' mag that came out recently...like tug says, you get more info here and its for free [except for the obligatory fullfatrr.com sticker Mr. Green ] ... - .- -.

I also wasn't terribly impressed with the buying guide as it tended to focus on the later models and was far too vague for my liking. I half-expected them to refer to this hallowed place for information, but it appears not.

I also bought my 110 from Nene about 7 years ago and found them OK, but they didn't care less when I bumped into them a while later and intruduced myself as a happy customer. I was blanked.

Kevn Mackman at Nene is very, very good though. I've bought all my OzTent stuff from him and he's given excellent service and support, but is a PITA to get hold of as he's so busy.

But I've been buying LRO and LRM for years now. I do get frustrated by a lot of the same-old stuff, but there's enough (just!) in the mazagines to keep me renewing my subscription, although I do get LRM for free. I know a few people on LRM very well and have been involved in an upcoming Discovery re-chassis feature in association with a new LR specialist owned by a few good friends of mine in Suffolk. Si. <This is my name.

I stopped getting Land Rover magazines when I started using forums properly.

The info is more specific, the experience is more interactive and with an ad-blocker you don't get heaps of adverts to wade through. Oh, and you don't have to pay for it and keep it to refer back to either. Smile

I'm surprised they still survive.
But I guess that explains the mass advertising you get when you buy one.

This is the place for FFRR info. Thumbs Up

The thing is you lads compare a magazine (that needs to please all LAND Rover fans) and a model-specific forum visited by Range Rover nuts ! There is no point comparing them really...

I am a Rangie fan but a Land Rover enthusiast before all, this is why i still get the mags and read them from cover to cover.

Of course they cannot be as specific as a forum (how would you concentrate this forum's info in 2 pages, or even 20?) but they bring much more than technical solution to L322 problems, such as trips, mods of other models we all like, and such.

I mean here, how many overlanding trip do you get ? A handfull, right, I find a way to travel abroad every month through the pages of the mags hey hey.

To each is own of course, but I find very odd to spit on mags when you simply can not compare a LR mag and a nut's forum. l=Oo\________/oO=l l:OolΞΞΞΞΞΞΞloO:l

True, but a magazine doesn't always tell the unbiased truth. A forum, bu virtue if the many contributors, usually does.

Yes, overland trips etc are more prevalent in a magazine. But they're also more prevalent with Series / Defender forums as well. I imagine the D2 / D3 forums do more of that than FFRR do, but that's generally the nature of the beast.

I take my 110 greenlaning occasionally and we overland her once a year abroad and have taken her into the Alps offroad. But my FF won't ever go offroad during my tenure.

What gripes me, and not all LR mags are this way, is the proliferation of Britpart-sponsorship in rebuild projects. The parts are utter rubbish! I inadvertently bought a Britpart coolant hose for my 110 and it's an utter joke! I refuse to fit it. It's a shame that a project cannot be sponsored by LR Genuine parts, although Nick Dimbleby's recent 4.2 Classic Autobiography restroration in LRM went that way. And a good friend of mine, Trevor Cuthbert of LRM with his Project 130 is doing a pretty good job as well.

But the rebuild / project threads are useful in other ways if you ignore the make of parts used.

Yes, some 'dealers' are used a lot in features and that can grate. And you're paying for this stuff whereas a forum is generally free-access. Si. <This is my name.

if you spend any time on the Defender2 forum it soon becomes clear no one likes Britpart on the whole, and it is nick-named S**tpart.

I heard recently that Paddocks send one container load of Britpart stuff back for every 3 they buy. It does have a shocking reputation. Discovery 4 HSE
