Driving home in a snow storm today when battery light came on, assumed all the electrics on were maybe overloading the alternator. As each mile passed another warning light would come on until i had to drive the last 10 miles with no lights, wipers, demister etc, etc. managed to limp home and park up, swotched engine off and tried to restart ...nothing. I am guessing alternator is goosed, does anyone agree or should i stick battery on charge and see what happens.

The battery light coming on is a sign that the battery is not charging, so I would imagine it's an alternator fault. |

Freezing cold last night,-4. Went out expecting not even to be able to open doors with key fob and yet they opened, then turned key and she burst into life and ran as sweet as a nut for about 2 minutes even though every warning light on the dash was activated, including battery light. Then she began to run rough so i turned off and plugged in fault code reader and it showed a misfire on cylinder 7...could this be a result of their being very little power left in the battery or will running the engine cause more damage.

Martin, on the contrary your info was spot on, the company you recomended are the ones with the alternator at best price i have found. Also your right about the fitting it myself the jobs more involved than on a lesser car. |
