Servicing it yourself is admirable as long as you don't mind a kick in the gonads when it comes to sell it on, my guess is that most people will walk away from it, even if it's immaculate, in favour of one from a dealer with a FLRSH.

Thanks for the welcome Although me and my friend are servicing it book will be stamped serviced in accordance with manufacturers specification each time its serviced as my friend is a long standing qualified car mechanic and works for a national company that allows him to use their lifts etc. Also all parts will be sourced from Land Rover and receipts kept as proof, I get to tag along and help with the service which I have done now for about 30+ years getting old I would rather my friend service it than let anyone else touch it that way I know its done correctly. This is I realize probably an unfair generalization, however I am sure we have all heard horror stories and being Scottish if I don't get the right price when I come to sell then I will just keep it till wheels fall off To be honest servicing it this way allows me to stay clear of Land Rover as I don't think I would ever put up with them again given my past experience with not just one dealership but three separate ones which were all as bad as each other. I have also thought about a good independent which I have reasonably local but I will just stick with my friends help. Talking about Scots people on the site means that you guys down south will get a good laugh at the lengths we will go to to save some cash so watch this space. |

You thought the Scots were tight, just wait till you see the lengths the Yorkshire guy on the forum go to, all to save a couple of pence... |
