Well gone and done it again another Range Rover

Very Happy Hi All I have just joined the site and have been looking at MKIII Range rovers 2010 MY for about six months now and in that time I have seen about 40 in total. Anyway have bought a 2009 TDV8 but 2010MY with 38000 miles and full Range Rover Service history in Stornoway grey with sand leather.

Haggled the fitment of a proper detachable towbar and a full years warranty with upper claim limit up to cost of car purchase price.

Car itself is immaculate with one keeper and not even a stone chip. Also had to fit a tracker to keep Direct Line happy. Car also comes with a new set of 22 Hawke Chaton wheels and tyres although origional 19 inch wheels are included. I will be putting the originals back on the car once powder coated in gunmetal silver and will probably sell the hawke Chaton wheels. The garage I bought from seemed to fit 22's to everything as they said thats what people seem to want, but I prefer original fitment wheels.

Not my first Range Rover, to cut a long story short I bought a 2007 Range Rover TDV8 Vogue in 2008 from Land Rover Darnley BIG MISTAKE!!! Censored Censored Censored vowed I would not buy from another Land Rover dealer again and to be honest they were a complete shower of a :censored:es. but that's another story. Lets just say they cannot spell customer service! and knowledge base of their product and lack of concern for customers anyway enough of that!!!Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

Anyway here's hoping I have better luck with 2010MY car.

Will be servicing it myself as I have a friend in the trade that can help me service it for cost of service kit and some beer so the plan is to steer clear of Land Rover as much as I can.

Should get my car later this week when reg transfer complete. Just thought I would say hello to you all and will post pictures in due course.

Cheers Thumbs Up

Servicing it yourself is admirable as long as you don't mind a kick in the gonads when it comes to sell it on, my guess is that most people will walk away from it, even if it's immaculate, in favour of one from a dealer with a FLRSH.

Just my humble opinion.

Thanks for the welcome Very Happy Very Happy

Although me and my friend are servicing it book will be stamped serviced in accordance with manufacturers specification each time its serviced as my friend is a long standing qualified car mechanic and works for a national company that allows him to use their lifts etc. Also all parts will be sourced from Land Rover and receipts kept as proof, I get to tag along and help with the service which I have done now for about 30+ years Censored getting old

I would rather my friend service it than let anyone else touch it that way I know its done correctly. This is I realize probably an unfair generalization, however I am sure we have all heard horror stories and being Scottish if I don't get the right price when I come to sell then I will just keep it till wheels fall off Thumbs Up

To be honest servicing it this way allows me to stay clear of Land Rover as I don't think I would ever put up with them again given my past experience with not just one dealership but three separate ones which were all as bad as each other.

I have also thought about a good independent which I have reasonably local but I will just stick with my friends help.

Talking about Scots people on the site means that you guys down south will get a good laugh Rolling with laughter at the lengths we will go to to save some cash so watch this space. Thumbs Up Thumbs Up
