Remote pre heat was not the thing killing the battery , there was a recall on the 11+ my cars that replaced a voltage regulator and at the same time they reduced timed climate to 17 mins i think it was , but mine still did the same and i was not using timed climate, once battery was changed for the gel battery hey presto no issues.

Delivered June 2011, gel battery, no recall applicable, dealer says there is no problem but five minutes of radio on low or interior lights on gets the start engine message.

Hopefully they have paid a bit more attention to this sort of thing on the new one.

Trommel,

I would get your car checked. My March 2011 build (recall required but AGM battery fitted at factory) can cope with approx 20 minutes of TV/DVD (including RSE) before getting the battery warning.

Delivered Sept 2012 - got the same message on the first evening when acclimatising myself with all the interior gubbins. I didn't pay much heed to it, but shortly thereafter, everything turned itself off. 2012 FFRR Westminster Orkney / Ivory and absolutely no pimp-glass!

Has anyone determined if the L405 comes with any roof rails pre-installed (not a rack, the mounting rail)? Last time around when I pre-ordered my 2010 LR4, I got burned by not adding that to my order (you had to know to ask for it). And it costs a tidy sum to have them installed after the fact. Don't want to go through that again.

Haven't found anything about rails in the spec sheets, but I could have simply missed it.

+1 March 2011 delivery. Car has never failed to start - and the last update (bettery battery and software updates iirc) the car had has reduced the number of 'low battery warnings'.

But leave the doors open a while (for example the other week whilst loading the car up to go on holiday) and the battery warning is there again...

This is going off topic a bit but here goes anyway : to the battery warning guys, have a voltmeter handy and when the battery warning comes up, just measure the voltage, directly on the battery poles and between plus and ground on the car. Could be a simple matter of some corrosion between ground lead and body reducing the voltage a bit, triggering a battery warning. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

Back on topic.....

Had a good look at a dark green one today on the motrway for several minutes. No badges but no camouflage either.

Came up behind it and at first thought it was a RRS with different lights due to rear end shape and the horizontal silver bar across the back door. Coming along side all you notice is the the big sliver stripe (what is it called?) beginning at the drivers door and ending at the rear. This really did look like an after thought add on and is far too bling for a FFRR. Front end with driving lights on looked ok as are rear lights which are are small and square when on. The front vents seem to work visually. Overall though the new rounded shaped seems to have lost some of the original iconic RR look. The new shape does seem to blend in to its surroundings rather than stand out as a FFRR. Roll on the facelift and the removal of the bling (on dark colours anyway). MY23 D350 HSE
On my 7th RR plus various other JLR vehicles

We (Trommel) have decided that in contrasting (i.e. with body colour) this is to henceforth be known as The Gypsy Stripe.

If anyone is a whizz with photoshop, i'd love to see a gold one....these will exist for real at some point....mark my words
