Car drove normally yesterday, parked it up for an hour then when I got in a tried starting it (starter motor and battery both as normal) but it would not catch or even try catching.

- I tried unlocking and locking incase it was the immobiliser, but no difference.
- I wiggled and changed the gear selector but no difference.
- I checked the fuel hose, seemed ok with fuel in it.

The recovery guy checked the fuel filter, but he seemed a bit confused about the L322 diesel pipe set up (FBH etc) but he thought it was a fuel pump/blockage issue. So got him to drop it off at the garage.

He rings me after dropping it off and said it started up perfectly whcih surprised him. I called the garage this morning and they said same thing.

Just wondering if it is a common fault, and whether it could just be some floating debris in the tank that is causing a blockage. Is it easy to clean out and fix? Tom

Secondary fuel pump under the vehicle is a common fault

Bang on!

Just got a call from Essex 4x4 and they said same thing, although it is now working ok, they said it was noisier than it should be and is showing greater resistance than normal so will be temperamental. Told them to replace it and the fuel filter. Better safe than sorry.

Mine started but would not rev very much when the low pressure fuel pump died (the one by the tank) - is the secondary the high pressure pump ?
