all I'd say is 'do the maths' before you rule out a petrol.

It's not just the sums...

I had a 4.2S/C and have just made the move to a 4.4TDV8. I do very little mileage (c7k per year) so I was tempted by the 5.0S/C. Two things swung it for the diesel:
1. Resale (better residuals and a bigger potential base of buyers)
2. Not spending so long in petrol stations (not the cost of the fuel, just the frequency that you stand there for 15mins pumping the fuel into the thing).

The only time I regret the trade is when I pull up to the black pump. The TDV8 (at least the 4.4) is a fabulous bit of kit. I have another car for blasting around in and, as mentioned, it really isn't a car in which one feels inclined to "hustle".

United Kingdom 2008 Range Rover Vogue TDV8 Java Black

with a bit of hunting £25k will get you into a 60k miles 08 plate TDV8 in nice condition (thats what I just bought about 4 weeks ago). They are out there a bit cheaper with higher miles but given what I'd read about reliabilty that wasn't a route I was ready to take with my first RR.

I agree with the others sentiments. The TDV8 is by no means slow but it does lull you into slowing down and cruising. As a new owner, I'm still conscious of the sheer size of it (even though my last car was also a 4x4) and I think thats a small part of it, but its more the sheer cosseting luxury of the damned thing.... its dangerous... I could easily drift off to sleep.. Laughing It certainly gives you a certain sense of well being when you launch forth in it. Cool

Good luck with the hunt. Lloyd Barnes
