For the driverside one, I pulled the airbox hose out and moved it up a bit (the end that goes into the engine cover) to gain access to the plastic nut. The first time I did mine they were super tight and took ages, but they did come loose in the end. When I got them out I replaced the threaded bolts that the plastic nut screws onto with a new one, and greased them as my old ones were rusty.

This fixing is one of the worst designed features on the FFRR. Neither of mine work now so have resorted to cable clips to holds things together. The problem may arise that you can turn the plastic nut thingy but then the whole bolt starts turning!! If this happens you may have to get out the hacksaw blade. I was able to get a pair of long handled pliers into the space to hold the bolt whilst turning the nut.

Does any one know what size the thread is for the long bolt that holds the sidelight on with the wheel and plastic thingy?

DO NOT USE WD40 ON THE THEM, THE PLASTIC NUT WILL REACT WITH IT AN SWELL, THEN YOU WILL REALLY HAVE THE TIGHTEST NOUTS YOU WILL HAVE HAD FOR ALONG TIME!!

I brought a box with a variety of nuts and bolts in different lengths and sizes and there was a few that was exact size, so I replaced the bolts, cleaned them up and used some thread grease on the thread. Been fine since. I will look at the box and see if the sizes are on there. Reformed |

Halfords do a nut and bolt kit "HFX511" (£3.79) with the right sized bolt in it to replace the rusty no good one.
