It has just been mentioned in the thread that prior ti checking atf fluid, it must be between 35 and 43 degrees. I have also read this in the rave. I do not have the required white man's magic to tell how hot my gearbox oil is prior checking the level. Does anyone one know a good rule of thumb to make sure to oil is hot enough / not too hot, without the afore mentioned technological gizmo's? Cheers gents. MY2010 TDV8 Vogue Ipanema Sand

Based on a typical fluid temperature rise rate for the 5HP24, if you leave it ticking over for 3 or 4 minutes from ambient you’d be about right

Nice graph, quite interesting Phill. I'll get around to checking my ATF shortly, when I can find somewhere level to park! MY2010 TDV8 Vogue Ipanema Sand
