The RRS never had BMW engines, that what I think is meant - i.e. the RRS was only ever fitted with the Jag engine

They were developed around and launched with the PSA/JLR engine range.

Quite correct. And another one which confuses people is the 4.4 in the D3 V8 and the 4.4 in the early FFRR are completely different engines.
FFRR is BMW
D3 is Jag 4.2 bored out to give a bit more torque.

Thinking about the RRS, it came along in 2005 and right from the start it had the Ford based infotainment system, never the earlier BMW stuff. The diesel engines were the Ford/Peugeot TDV6 and TDV8 units, never the straight TD6 BMW unit.

TBH, aside from the small bits which are common to them all there was very little evidence of BMW left in LR products by 2005, The remaining common parts are those which would be catalogue items anyway, i.e. no point in designing from scratch as perfectly good stuff available off the shelf, Brake calipers etc.

Worth noting the AJV8 (Jag Engine) and variants was used in all the post "Facelift" L322 other than the TD6 which remained the BMW lump until the AJV8 TDV8 came along in 2006. Thumbs Up

Leading on from Gaz's last comment, what are people's experiences of the post facelift (ie 2006MY on) N/A Jag 4.4 V8 in the L322 ? - NOT the supercharged car
Has anyone on here got one ?
I seem to have read previously it's not too bad on fuel and considerably quieter than the BMW V8 . . . .
Can anyone back this up ?

Thumbs Up Where do you go after one of these . . . ?

As with the SC its good that it quiet at low revs and turns into a howling banshee when you put your foot down. Smile

I have an 07 plate and I have to say it is a very good engine, however if you can stump up for it I would go for the super charged if you can as the fuel economy is not much worse and the engine is very sweet coupled with the supercharger whine.

that said there are some bargain 4.4 jag engined range rovers for sale at the moment. I thought I had 1 of the last but I saw a low mileage vogue 57 plate for sale recently for less than 20 grand!
