A long shot but can you recognise this noise?

I hate being the newbie member and instantly start a help thread but maybe you might recognise this noise. This evening I hear this clicking noise from the front of the engine and go in to panic mode. After reading so many horrors about gearboxes on here I start to sweat. This noise is pronounced when putting in to drive. I checked there is oil, can't see anything untoward and drives okay. It sounds like its coming right from the front of the car (fan area) and I'm starting to worry what it might be Embarassed I have a 2003, lpg 4.4 vogue :

It sounds like a belt has frayed and the loose bits are hitting casings etc as it spins round. Can you see anything if you look past the plastic casings? Previously..

Sounds like a loose cable bouncing off the fan, possibly the cable to the air temp on the grill?

I have the exact same thing happening in my computer right now Laughing

It could also be a loose piece of tape or an empty packet of cheese and onion crisps (maybe salt and vinegar?) inside the front radiator fan housing

i had a similar noise after going through big puddles on the april salisbury plain trip but it soon went after a couple of days...my mechanic son told me it was gritty water in the alternator housing....been ok ever since..

Mine has snapped like yours. It's currently fixed witha cable tie. Its been like that since I got it. Only way to fix is to buy a new fan cowal. An not wasting money on that when there are more pressing issues. Lol [img]http://www.fuelly.com/driver/rob2529/range-rover[img/]
