Blowing head light Bulbs Honda CRV.

My wifes car has developed an big appetite for headlight bulbs. Its a CRV . I have replaced 4 so far over the last 2 months . I did use cheapo bulbs though and am going to fit some Bosch ones instead. So hopefully that might solve. Anyone know what else might cause this and possible fix ?
Present :2008 TDV8 HSE
Gone Audi A5 2.7TDI
Gone Discovery 3 HSE
Gone Mercedes CLK
Gone Range Rover 2.5 DSE

voltage surge...... is there a regulator in the system somewhere..

Stan there possibly is so if it keeps happening you reckon changing the regulator might fix?

pretty sure it will...you could put a voltmeter on the headlight socket and start the car a few times ...see if theres any massive spikes in the voltage..

Have you changed the pair at once? I.E. if you get one blow, the other will run slightly hotter whilst only one is working. Then when you change the blown one soon after the one that ran hotter will blow! Then the other will run hotter etc etc... Ever decreasing circles...

Trust me, change both bulbs at the same time...

Happens all the time on D3 brake lights... And "New Transit" headlamps...
