Here's a link to the specific fitting instructions for the Range Rover, it might help to show you how the plastic flaps sit whilst the bars are installed.

Hi Paul,
Yes, that's right. Just flip up the small plastic flaps and they sit inside the feet of the roof bars. Very neat.

These roofbars are brilliant as you don't need to cut off the four plastic flaps on the roof when installing them, nor do you need to fit roof rails.

What about some roof bars rather than roof-rails? The plastic flaps fit inside the feet of my Whispbar roof bars so you don't have to cut them off.
