Thanks for all the suggestions Folks. It would appear the two most likely culprits will be the starter motor/solenoid or corroded cables.

Looks like this might be a common problem. I just posted a question on the same subject a few minutes ago. Intermittent starter engaging. Mine is a 2011 322 with 75k miles.

When I try to start the car when cold, I sometimes just get a 'click' noise & starter doesn't engage. After a couple more attempts, it starts as normal.
