Mine doesn't raise until the engine starts, if I press the start/stop button with my foot off the brake pedal, the dash lights up but the rotary gear selector stays down 2011 TDV8 Vogue SE |

Thank you all, you’ve confirmed that mine does what it’s supposed to do, I had convinced myself that it should rise as soon as the ignition is on.

What is your intermittent fault?

That’s interesting about 3 starters in 23K miles. Mine started with the classic occasional click and having to press the button a second time a few weeks ago but at 10 year old and over 100K miles I can’t complain. I bought a new Denso 1217 and fitted it a few days ago, all was well for a couple of days (and many starts) until it decided on Tuesday to not start no matter how many times I press the button.

I've seen a thread on here about the cable from battery to starter being made up of 4 separate "bits". The person replaced it with one new lead.

That's pretty much what I'm looking at by trying to eliminate problems, trouble is it has worked perfectly today so I can't find a problem that's not there.

Looks like this might be a common problem. I just posted a question on the same subject a few minutes ago. Intermittent starter engaging. Mine is a 2011 322 with 75k miles. |
