It does fit but a spacer plate is a good idea if you don't want it to rub the bumper. The offset one gives no benefit in this regard. The problem is that the towbar drop plate does not quite protrude clear of the bumper. All it needs is a spacer plate to overcome this issue. |

I have thought about getting a bike carrier...but then have been put off by the confusing (to me) number of choices.

I have 1" but I use the top mounting holes and have the tow ball on the bottom with 1/2". I felt I wanted something between the upright pole & the bumper as it would touch even with the spacer once you tighten it up - the problem is that the RR has the reciever so far under the car that the towball doesn't stick out far enough. It works well though I'm happy with it - I wanted to tow & carry bikes at the same time so there weren't many options. I also have a set of Thule roof bars with 4 bike racks - again a great solution just a bit more hassle to load & unload and a lot more drag at motorway speeds. Never had a problem with mountain bike tyres on the Thule and the Maxx Raxx uses the cross bars so no issue there. |

I always thought those Thule ones were for swan neck tow bars only - learn something new every day.....

I bought a new drop plate - but it came with the bolt / nut / split pin and not just a pin......so will take a bit more effort to fit and remove.

I have had a maxraxx for years. Used on P38, L322 (spacer on flange mount), Freelander 1 (needed a wider plate) and a couple of non LR vehicles. 4 mountain bikes need the straps up top but awesome.
