New Owner - Problems

Have owned my 2002 HSE for a couple of months now, and love it.

I have had a couple of Disco's in the past, so know what to expect when owning a Land Rover.

In the past week one of the windscreen washer nozzels has stopped working, so I have ordered a new one. Is this a common fault, and is there a simple cure ( I've disconnected the hose to the nozzle and water comes through ok).

More of a concern is the 'Air Suspension Inactive message'.

I have looked at other posts and have ordered an exhaust filter for compressor in the hope that this will cure it.

Have also noted from other posts that RR can stay 'awake' if not locked. As I do not lock my car, could this explain why I am hearing a fan running every time I jump in?
Unfortunately because of my location, I can't 'nip down' to a dealer. Nearest one is a three hour ferry journey and a fifty mile drive away.

I may stand corrected but i think its the newer RR that will stay awake if not locked. The ones that are keyless entry.

More than likely the washer nozzle is clogged up. Try leaving it in hot soapy water or blow through it which will clear any crud out. TDV8 HST Sport **Current**

My RRsport used to stay awake until locked and that was a 2006 model maybe the same applies to the FFRR

The RR is designed not to shut down fully for about 20 minutes. See how long it takes.

LR assistance checked mine recently, had some sort of device clamped to the battery terminal reading the amps being drained after locking the car and he timed it. It all ok for me luckily.

If you do this you need to trip the bonnet switch on drivers side by unplugging it. Discovery 4 HSE

hi i had the same EAS fault on my 2002 hse and had to replace the compressor as the old one was beyond local repair however the guys that change the item did it on a recondition exchange, once they had finished the cat goes up down very fast indeed,

hope this helps

have you tried full steering lock left and right as his can some times clear the fault if it is a soft fault however if not then may well be a hard fault needing a reset by OBD tool

good luck

Thanks for the replies.

I have tried the lock to lock thing to no avail, so will take cover off and have a fiddle about with compressor (exhaust valve).

I have just gone back to the RR an hour after it was parked up (only on a short run before that so hadn't had a chance to really heat up). I had a listen around to see if I could hear fan running from outside, couldn't hear anything ( maybe the car is to well sound proofed!) but as soon as I opened the door the 'fan' was running, it cuts out after about 10-15 secs (with or without turning on ignition). When i get back out and leave the car again for a few minutes and open door again fan is still not running. I expect to go out tomorrow morning and hear this fan again when I jump in. Strange.

On another subject, I received a full set of mud flaps last weekend, and as I had an hour or two to spare, I thought i'd fit them. Ha! not so easy. I think I'll have to wait till I've got a few more hours to spare, looks like I also need to get a tool for inserting the rivet things for screwing the mounting plate onto.
If anyone has carried this out I'd be interested to know how long it took and if it's as straight forward as it is made to look in the crappy instruction book you get with them.

Thanks again If you like it, who cares what other people think
