Paul, there are jump leads of all different qualities on the market... Some work well, and some do not... Some cars have a strong current, some don't... Would you jump start a TDV8 from flat using a 20yr old Austin Mini and a £2.99 set of jumper cables? No! You will send all sorts of voltages to your Ecu's...

I'm not arguing, I am simply pointing out that your statements (in this 'Technical' section of the site) do not stand up to technical scrutiny. I don't know what LR technical say, but if they suggest that jump starting can damage your ECUs, they are incorrect. My suspicion is that they are covering themselves againt all eventualities, including someone jump starting from a 24v vehicle !

i would stay on the side of caution especially how delicate the fullfat is with regards of electrical problems and the fact that of the cost of replacing an item if it fries...
