Have I been unfortunate or do FFRR frequently throw faults?

I have had the call from the dealer, my Evoque is coming in around Christmas and sadly I will be part exchanging the Vogue SE. It has been the best car I have ever had! but not reliable or fuel efficient, that is part of the reason it is going, plus I fear residuals will plummet when the new model FFRR hits the press next year.

Experienced Land Rover owners tend to be forgiving over a few niggles as the cars themselves have so many redeeming characteristics.

However the FFRR can't go for three months without some fault or other involving major warranty work:

3 fuel injectors,
replaced Webasto heater
Relaced Alternator
New active lighting ECU
uneven idle
wobbly fuel guage
remote heater software failure
TPMS fault
glove box not opening
battery drain and failing to start

That is the main reason why I am not getting another Vogue.

I am on fist name terms with the Guava team, they have been stellar in supporting me through Disco 3 and FFRR issues, they have seen the Freeloader once .........for a service.................oh and the Defender, despite being 21 years old, has never had a fault.

Will the Evoque be just as Reliable, only time will tell.

The good news is I have a lot of FFRR accessories to sell in the new year and they will all be posted on this forum! 2018 Range Rover Autobiography

Hi Claud -
It's funny, as I was thinking of starting a RELIABLE FF thread . . . . .

I've had my car over a year - it's a facelift 06MY Vogue - bought with highish miles and FSH. I've had very few problems with it, just the same as everybody else - flat batt etc. Other than that, it's been faultless, with no warning lights and everything works !
It took us to Italy this summer on hols - no probs.

These can be pretty scarey (not SCAREY !) cars to own, particularly a few years down the line and I read other people's posts sometimes with a pinch of salt . . . . .

You never get to hear about the good ones Whistle

Thumbs Up Where do you go after one of these . . . ?

You can have a run of bad luck, or a car which seems to suffer problems all the time. I've been lucky with mine apart from minor suspension knocks, and EML coming on sometimes for no good reason, it seems to be great.

My last one didn't have any problems either, but my first one with the bulletproof BMW 4.4 engine needed a new engine new to camshaft wear! Mad Range Rover-less at the moment - Pining!

Regarding the remote heater software failure, my Webasto heater stopped working. It was replaced under warranty, but it could not be started by the remote or on the timer to heat the cabin. It turned out there was a software glitch that took Land Rover a few days to sort out, The HVAC is a BMW system, unfortunately Land Rover ceased the technical support agreement with BMW when TATA took the over. As a consequence it it takes them quite a while to sort out BMW code issues.

I think the glove box is misaligned and the electric catch does not slide across when the button is pressed which is solved by an old fashioned thump! 2018 Range Rover Autobiography
