Ok, this isn't RR related, but I'm wondering if anyone can help. I bought my Escort at the end of October from a small back street type garage, the salesman didn't seem too bothered either way if he sold the car which is making me wonder about the following. I have a receipt signed from him, the previous and current MOT and almost a full V5C minus the yellow section.

If you still have the green NEW KEEP SUPPLEMENT fill that in and send it off but take a copy of it before doing so.

Cheers everyone, it seems more likely he couldn't be bothered, so I'll fill it out and send it off.

Wrong way round. You keep the new keeper supplement, and you send off the main section. The new keeper supplement is all you need if you're pulled. In reality you're much more likely to get pulled if you do it as above. You'll get pulled at the moment because the car won't be correctly registered, and is likely to trigger an ANPR alert until you have it correctly registered. Once it's all correct, you won't have to worry. These days, it's really not about what paperwork you have, it's what's on the computer system. If the computer system says something is wrong, it doesn't matter what paperwork you have, and waving a V5 in somebody else's name won't do you any favours. Send if off properly completed as per the instructions on the back. If in doubt, there's plenty of help online, or go to your local DVLA office. Range Rover-less at the moment - Pining! |

Usually I'd just go to the DVLA office in Newcastle, but sod's law, I'm working nowhere near it this week!
