Wing Mirror Heaters

It was my first icy start yesterday and I noticed that the wing mirrors were not de-icing.
Any thoughts on why this is?

Also the passenger side air vent is having a problem. All of the grills inside have come loose from one another. Is there an easy way of fixing this before I start hitting it with a hammer. Range Rover Autobiography 5.0SC

Just about to go and have a play to see if I can find the problem. Does anyone think it could be a fuse?
I read the manual to try and find where the fuse is but it seems there are more than one? Does anyone know which fuse it might be? Range Rover Autobiography 5.0SC

Well I followed the superb wiki on how to fix the wing mirror micro switch.
This is what I found;

Looks like the cables had moved to an incorrect position and put enough pressure on the cast ali housing to cause it to break. This then cut through one cable and into another possible causing a short.
I have managed to put the cables back into their correct position and fixed the two wires back together.
I also cleaned the micro switch and gave it all a good spray with WD40.
Both mirrors now fold in and stay there Thumbs Up
I presume I will have to wait for a cold morning to check if the heated mirrors now work?

Cheers Justin.

It would have been a good fix but it seems to have caused another problem?
Now the wing mirrors fold in and stay in but now my front passenger indicator doesn't work Rolling Eyes
I have checked the bulb and it's fine.
Anyone have any idea's? Range Rover Autobiography 5.0SC

Luciano this is the LR Rave extract i pulled for you which could shed some light on the issue Smile

Quote:

The door mirrors operate when the ignition switch is turned to the 'auxiliary' position.
Operation of the door mirrors is carried out by door modules located in each front door, in
conjunction with the Body Control Unit (BCU).
The BCU can store up to three mirror positions in its memory, which it transmits to the door
modules via the peripheral (P) bus. The BCU also initiates mirror heating if the outside
temperature is between -10 °C and 35 °C.
If reverse gear is selected, the passenger door mirror will automatically lower to enable the
driver to gain a better view of the kerb. When reverse gear is deselected, the mirror returns
to its original position.
For a detailed description of door mirror operation, refer to the Exterior Fittings – Door
Mirrors section of the Description and Operation Workshop Manual.
