Clarkson

I used to enjoy watching TG, and thought Clarkson was a good laugh, good value and never let the truth get in the way of a good story, however recently I've noticed he's just a bit of a t*t.

His recent comments aside about the strikers (which does make him look an idiot) he was on the Chris Moyles show, and 'effed and jeffed' his way through the show, being deliberately ignorant, which made him look more stupid, and he now just seems to trade off his celebrity persona of being a motormouth for the sake of it.

No one else on the show had to swear to get a laugh, and having read in the papers about his marital affairs I have to say I don't hold any respect for the man anymore.

It won't stop me watching TG anymore or anything but I think he's slowly talking himself out of public favour and possibly a career. He should remember that Top Gear is bigger than just him and that anyone can be replaced.

upped his profile by doing that stuff didnt he...i agree that swearing 'all' the time isnt funny or interesting but the occasional well placed swear word is ok..

as for TG , that's getting so predictable that its not entertaining any more...

TBH I think this incident has been poorly reported. When I initially read the story, only part of what he said was quoted, and this was the selected part that was put in the accompanying YouTube clip. The full transcript of what he said is in the following link, and puts a different slant on things in my view.

Yes, top gear is like a poor comedy show now. It is so obviously scripted now that you know how every situation will end.
They still have the odd gem of an item, and I love seeing the sports cars, when the Censored of a camera man stands still for long enough, takes off the stupid filters and holds the camera horizontal... Which is not often!!
Yes, clarkson is not bigger than the show, but I do enjoy some of his comments.. There is a good possibility he is about to talk himself out of a job I feel. Would I miss him?.. Not that much.. I'm sure they could find someone else without too much difficulty... It might even breath some fresh air into the show. Previously..

I must admit that tg is predictable but mostly light entertanment, the camera work is far superior to other "car" shows, Cool take fith gear the camera work is very poor in comparison, just my thoughts,

Sorry but I think Clarkson is funny and totally mis-understood by many especially the looney left and bio-degradables...

Top Gear is still a Top Show and I am totally in tune with the sense of humour on display Thumbs Up

I totally agree with Gaz,

Clarkson is, by his own admission, an overgrown schoolboy with the best job in the world. He's also enormously successful just for being who he is. If he was sensible, grown up, serious or politically correct, he wouldn't be half as funny.

We should just thank God that there's still room for politically incorrect reactionary plonkers like him it todays boring sterile world. Clarkson and TG are just about the only reason to even consider paying the BBC license fee! Range Rover-less at the moment - Pining!

There's a good clip somewhere of him being the good humoured recipient of a custard pie... Graham

Funny you should say that. I went to watch the filming of one of the shows. Alfa's one.
And it was Hammond who was an stuck up little git. May was fine, he even made a pass at my missus!
Clarkson was chatting to everyone, signing autographs and having some fun with the crowd.
Hammond on the other hand didn't speak to anyone and whenever they had a break he left. He even
refused to come back out at the end of the day to sign a book for some woman.

I hope this was an adequate use of the "quote" button Bow down Range Rover Autobiography 5.0SC

Just reading the many books of all his Sunday Times Car Test articles is a guaranteed giggle he is just so brilliantly politically incorrect - which is great Wink

I'm with you Gaz, there's always the "off button" and Top Gear is a light entertainment show and not a serious car review programme! That's why it appeals to as many women as men Thumbs Up I didn't see the one show but I have certainly heard the extracts many times since across many media which for me seems to be as bad.

If you want a safe answer about the strikes ask a politician, Not Clarkson! By now surely everyone should know what you get with him!

TG would not be the same without JC.

For light entertainment I enjoy watching Top Gear (yes, it has become predictable) but beats the hell out of desparate wannabe so called celebrities eating, wearing and sleeping with bugs and a 1001 other pointless telly etc. etc. etc.

If 20000 people have felt the need to officially complain to whoever about a openly outspoken self confessed motormouth who when interviewed on a popular evening BBC show made indirect flippant comments about certain events of the day only in an attempt to be funny (I laughed Neutral ) - when there were likely to be another 6,000,000 viewers of the same programme who didn't - then so f Censored king what...

...most people seem to be in the same awkward position at the moment due to the western world financially falling apart - and none of us really sure of what the future holds.

For this situation to broadcast and reported so widely when at the same time we have break-dancing Morrocans claiming to be paralysed Afghani assylum seekers and being awarded £388000 pounds of disability benefits by those responsible for running our supposed Great Britain - all at the cost of the honest tax payer Censored - we are all Censored .

It is refreshing to have someone speak there mind (albeit tongue in cheek) in todays pathetically politically correct society - especially on the BBC - I am adult enough (just) to make my own mind up and consider all that I may hear or see before me

If the representatives (UNISON) for all the hard done by public sector workers are seriously considering wagering a pointless long drawn out legal wrangle against a certain Mr Clarkson for nowt more than an apology - then its no surprise to me these poor souls are in such dire straits

Its the Sparrows I feel sorry for Wink

@Lucky, I've never met JC but I have met Hammong several years ago I had to fill a guest expert slot on the always doomed Granada Breeze cable channel about mobile phones.

He was a total c***t and indicative of the vacuous talentless stab anyone careerist who makes TV such a wonderful emetic.

I was asked back but was 'busy'

Also agree with all the comments about context and also UNISON- surely what little credibility they had should have evaporated if logic had a place in modern society, sad times- now where's the Tanqueray? Thumbs Up
