United Kingdom 2019 Range Rover Vogue SE SDV8 Santorini Black
Non Dealer Servicing

My car is now over 3 years old and out of warranty so I can now take it wherever I like to get it serviced cheaper than the dealers.

Anyone doing this already and where are you taking it? Trouble is, near me there are not many LR specialists, but loads of dealers nearby! Discovery 4 HSE

Right, managed to solve my own issue so for anyone's interest:

LandRover dealer price for an Inspection 1 Service £372 all inclusive.

Local garage using genuine parts with 12 months warranty on all work carried out including brake fluid change £165.00

I'm happy with that.

Who says a Range Rover needs to be expensive? Discovery 4 HSE

OK, so had the car serviced today at the non dealer garage who were also doing my rear pads and the brake fluid.

Service went fine other than they couldn't get their systems to reset the service indicator, apparently happens on some BMW's too so a trip to the dealer required for that.

However, the bad news they gave me (don't they always?) is that the front Diff is spewing out oil....

Hang on I hear you say, didn't you just have that work done by Land Rover themselves to prevent my diff from exploding?

YES! so, it was all totally fine before they meddled with it, now it has to go back for another day cos the damned thing is leaking oil all over the place.

If I've said it once I've said it a thousand times. As soon as a garage touches your car it just creates more problems, every single time. Discovery 4 HSE

Hi RRUK,

The service indicator can be reset manually, the instructions are on this site, & your local garage should have the procedure in Autodata.

Steve

I know they are, I posted them!

Seems to only work with older cars, there came a point when the car needs to be plugged into the LR diagnostics to be changed. Discovery 4 HSE

Hi,
I assumed that the change point was when the FFRR went to IDS diagnostics, which I thought was 2007MY, but perhaps that isn't the case?
I have definately reset via the dash on 2006MY.

Regards
Steve.

The weird thing is, the dealer tried twice to reset it for me and said there must be a fault with my car.

Then I got a flat battery (left an interior light on Embarassed ) and since then the service message seems to have cleared itself.....Nice! Thumbs Up Discovery 4 HSE
