iPhone IOS 5.0.1 "update"

Installed it on my iPhone 4 last night to fix some bugs, including poor battery life.

Guess what? The battery life's worse now than it was before the upgrade!

I'd just roll it back to an older IOS if you dont need the new features.

My iPod is the same and it toasted the battery in my last one, althought the beta versions were fine mostly but there are lots of complaints the issue is getting worse and it looks like it will be a hardware fix unless they find what hole is draining the juice as obviously something is drainng its guts Sad

Conversely my experience is the opposite. Since upgrading my iPhone 4 to IOS 5.0.1 my battery life seems to be much better - weird....

How to fix your battery life problem:

Settings / General / Date & Time / "Set Automatically" - change to "OFF"

Done. Your iPhone will now last 4 days on standby instead of 4 hours. Graham

Mine is set to on and there is no effect in my experience. Always keep mine on as when going to Europe for meetings the change is most convenient.

I am yet to renew my contract which expires in 2 months but I am already thinking if I should opt for the new iPhone 4s or choose another handset altogether. While I love the 4th version, I am not too thrilled to sport the same design for this new one, with only minor upgrades, based on my needs to say the least. Siri is also good fascinating but would not really rank high in terms of the functions I need.

I have been lucky. I have had no issues with the either iOS 5 or the 5.0.1 update on my iPad 2 and iPhone 4S. Paul
