Self-Levelling Suspension

Am thinking about upgrading next year and think I want self-levelling suspension. A few questions:

- When was it introduced?
- Is it an option or standard?
- What is the effect (if any) on tyre wear? I assume the forces have to go somewhere?
- How much difference to the ride does it make?

Thanks guys Wink

I thought around 2010/11 it was improved so that cornering was flattend?

10MY saw the introduction of Adaptive Dynamics which stiffened up the body shell and reduces roll on bends ALOT. Self levelling has been standard throughout the L322 and, as others have said, much much earlier in terms of Range Rover.

Thanks Johnson - my incorrect use of terminology.

So the above questions still apply to Active Dynamics rather than self-levelling Smile

Anyone with experience of Active Dynamics on the FFRR?

The S/C already has a pretty stiff suspension and corners quite flat. But I also know that the LR engineers do a lot of tweeking and tuning on their cars so the newer versions will be better. The question is by how much of a margin. A FFRR will never be cornering like a Ferrari/Aston/Lambo etc. although it is quite impressive what they have done on the S/C.

I thought it looked pretty impressive when the L405 was thrown around the Nurburgring on the video clips we saw in one of the other threads Smile MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

It's a very good system and I can, and do, corner quickly. You can feel a slight roll but it doesn't throw you out your seat! As others have said, it's never going to work like a BMW round corners. There are so many more benefits to 10MY+ so if you can stretch to one, do.

Thanks Johnson

I have had a couple of FF's, the 4.2 S/C and the 3.6 TDV8. Both have worn the front tyres more at the outside edges due to the cornering forces. Does the Active Dynamic system increase this wear noticably?

It won't make any difference to my decision to upgrade, just interested. And a quick look al LR approved shows loads of 10/60/11 plates with only few miles, all for under £60k Wink So plenty of haggle room with so many about.
